Currently, the Donner Lake Rim Trail is 15 miles, with only 9 of them open to bicycles. Upon completion, the trail will be a total of 23 miles round trip.
You can access this trail from 3 different locations:

Donner Summit: If you're on foot, you can use the Pacific Crest Trail, and bicyclist can access the trail via Castle Valley Rd.
Negro Canyon: I-80 at the Donner Lake Interchange. Proceed down the off ramp, and turn north onto a dirt road.
