Dane Skutt Left-Handed Wedge Golf Event

Sep 16, 2020 | News & Events

This past week, the 4th annual Dane Skutt Left-Handed Wedge Golf Event was held at Grizzly Ranch Golf Club in Portola, California. Every year, Mountain Hardware & Sports hosts the Dane Skutt Left-Handed Wedge Golf Event in memory of one of our founding owners, Dane Skutt. For anyone that knew Dane, they remember his love for the Truckee community and the game of golf. With respect to Dane’s legacy in our company, as well as within our community, the Dane Skutt Memorial Scholarship was founded. The Dane Skutt Memorial Scholarship offers financial support to graduating high school youths in Truckee, like Ariana. Ariana is a 2020 local recipient of the Dane Skutt Memorial Scholarship and she explains, “Awarding me this scholarship has been an incredible honor, and with your help I am able to focus more on the learning aspect of school rather than the financial hardships that come with it.” Each year, all of the proceeds from the golf event go to supporting local students like Ariana.

For years, Grizzly Ranch Golf Club has been the host site for many reasons, but mostly because of the great course conditions and the staff’s generous hospitality. This year was no different. The course was in pristine condition and even though the Grizzly Ranch staff had its extra challenges due to the pandemic, they never skipped a beat. After the round, players were served a cowboy style BBQ dinner before moving on to the chip off the deck contest and raffle prize drawings. The raffle included a variety of great prizes from local and national sponsors.  Year after year, our sponsors continue to support the raffle without hesitation. Because of this support, the Dane Skutt Memorial Scholarship continues to grow and assist local students in our community. We truly can’t thank them enough for supporting our event!
