Spring is here and we’re all feeling the excitement of longer, warmer days ahead. If you’re an all-season griller, or just opening the lid on your Traeger for the first time since fall, we know getting your grill ready for spring BBQ is on your mind. With some time and a few tools, you can have your Traeger free of grease and debris to keep the wood-fired flavor going all season long.
Wood pellet grills are different from gas grills in that cleanliness has a big effect on the overall performance and cooking experience. If you don’t clean your wood pellet grill, you may run into issues with the ignition, temperature regulation, and may even have un-evenly cooked food.
- Start by scraping any residue or debris from your grate into the drip tray liner
- Remove the drip tray liner, drip tray, grill grate, bucket, liner, the heat baffle, and all the pellets from the hopper of your Traeger
- Use your Shop-Vac to remove debris, dust, or scrape from inside the Traeger – including the ledges, corners, fire pot, hopper, and slightly into the auger
- Spray your degreaser every inside the grill and let it sit for up to 10 minutes. Wipe away with a paper towel.
