Overview of the Hike

Looking for a challenge?  Whether you’re on foot or on a bike, you will find the Donner Lake Rim Trail from Castle Valley to Donner Ridge is a good challenge.  Our friends on bicycles will find the trail technically challenging and strenuous at times and if you’re on foot you will find that a moderate to difficult adventure awaits. This trail is a 15.6 mile out and back trail located in Truckee, California.

Directions to Trailhead:

You can access this trail from multiple trailheads. First is the Castle Valley Trailhead just off of Castle Valley Road. The second trailhead is off of Glacier Way in Tahoe Donner. The trailhead starts in the small parking just off of Glacier Way. And lastly, is off of Negro Canyon. To access the trailhead in Negro Canyon, exit the off ramp at the I-80/Donner Lake Interchange and turn north onto a dirt road.
